Masonboro Country Club will set the standard for the ultimate golf experience

Wilmington, NC – Southern Destiny, LLC, a Wilmington, North Carolina based real estate holding company, today announced details for the Cape Fear region’s newest private golf course and country club.  Masonboro Country Club (MCC) will reflect a classic golf atmosphere where all aspects of the club have been meticulously designed to provide the ultimate golf experience.

The centerpiece of the club is its world-class golf course.  Starting with the footprint of a course previously located on the property, developers performed a complete reconstruction.  Every physical element of the previous course was modified and no expense spared in creating a golf course beyond anyone’s expectations.  The MCC course will provide challenging play as well as a dramatically beautiful golf environment. 

MCC members will also have access to a wealth of tools to help them master their golf game.  MCC’s holistic approach will address both the mental and physical aspects of the game, including video swing analysis, golf pilates, visualization workshops, golf clinics and an extensive library of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs.

Another key distinction of MCC will be the unsurpassed southern hospitality provided to the club’s members and their guests.  From valet parking that is standard for all, to the customized beverage cart prepped to each member’s liking before heading out on the course, to member access to a full-service concierge – MCC membership will include incomparable personalized service.

MCC is located on the southern Cape Fear peninsula of New Hanover County on property that was formerly operated as a semi-private golf course known as The Cape Golf & Racquet Club.  Past its prime and in some disrepair, the owners of Southern Destiny recognized the property’s strong potential and purchased the land in November 2006.

“This was an outstanding opportunity for us to build a first-class course on a beautiful piece of land that already existed for the purpose of golf,” said Keelin.  “There are many fine semi-private courses in the area, but MCC will now be the only private course on the southern peninsula.”

The architectural and interior designs of the clubhouse will reflect a Mediterranean revival style. Many of the unique features were specifically chosen to fuse the club seamlessly with the surrounding golf course and practice facilities. The clubhouse will include an upscale pro shop, well-appointed men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, a card room, a high-tech executive meeting room, a spa facility, two bars, both casual and fine dining, and ample indoor and outdoor social spaces, making MCC the perfect location for small parties or large events.

An accomplished development team has been established to bring Southern Destiny’s vision to life. Bob Moore with JMP Golf Design Group, widely recognized as one of the most creative golf design firms in the world today, designed the course, and Jeffrey Stein with Shapemasters Golf, one of the nation’s leading golf course builders, is managing the construction of the golf course.

Masonboro Country Club is expected to offer limited preview play starting the summer of 2009.  The club and course are officially set to open the following spring.
